Benjamin Pierce
Genealogy of John Harwood Pierce:
3rd Generation
Benjamin Pierce[3rd generation] was born March 11, 1683, and
died December 1772. He and his descendants form the third American
generation of Pierces in our family tree. His father was Captain Benjamin Pierce [2nd
generation].
Long before his father's death in 1730, Benjamin Pierce [3rd generation]
was deeded a large portion of his father's estate in Scituate to live
on, and managed. Thus, father and son, lived adjacent to each other on
prosperous farms for more than four decades. Like his father before him,
Benjamin Pierce [3rd generation] lived the life of a wealthy landowner.
On February 5, 1711, when Benjamin [3rd generation] was 28 years old, he
married Mary Cowan. They had three children: Benjamin [4th generation],
Martha, and Mary. Their son Benjamin [4th generation] fathered the fourth Pierce generation in this
Pierce Family Tree.
Benjamin Pierce [3rd generation] died in 1772 at the age of 89 on his
estate in Scituate. He outlived two of his children. When he was 75, his
41 year old daughter Mary died. When he was 82, his 47 year old son
Benjamin [4th generation] died. It is not known when his daughter
Martha died.

generation], born March 11, 1683; died December 1772.
- married Mary Cowan, on Feb. 5,
1711. Benjamin [3rd generation] and Mary had these three children:
- 25. >>>Benjamin Pierce [4th
generation], born December 4, 1721. Married Charity Howard and
Jane Howard. Died June 1768.
- 26. Martha Pierce, born Jan. 5,
1712. She married John Fobes who was born in 1714 in Bridgewater. They
had six children: Edward, born 1789, who relocated to Lake Champlain;
Martha, born 1741, who married Eliab Haywood in 1762; and Liebeus, born
in 1743. Liebeus died at the age of 40 in 1783, and Martha died at the
age of 54 in 1795.
- 27. Mary Pierce, born Feb. 4,
1717. Married Ebenezer Keith, who was born in 1716 in Bridgewater.
Ebenezer Keithwas a son of Samuel Keith and grandson of Rev. James
Keith, a Scotsman, educated at Aberdeen who immigrated to America in
1662. Martha and Ebenezer Keith lived in Scituate. They had nine
children: Luther, born 1743; Rachel, born 1744, Mary, born 1745;
Ebenezer, born 1747; Amos, born 1750; Lucy, born 1751; Susannah, born
1753; Caleb, born 1755; and Calvin, born 1757. Martha died in 1758.
After her death, Martha's husband married a second wife, Mrs. Hepzibah
(Perkins) Carver by whom he had several children.
- married Elizabeth Perry. They
had no children and she died before her husband who remain a widower
until his death in 1772.
